In this photographic series are combined Rio de Janeiro’s urban architecture with black fields. The particularity of Brazilian architecture is not only its aesthetics but also its social implementation.
Used to the European architecture I found during my travel in Brazil the architecture and its discourse gripping, especially as the differences related to political and social context and struggle are extremely evident. As in my research about the function of space I’m concerned with the influence architectural structures and the language have on our perception and thinking, I try to combine images and text. Like with this series, I put together details of architecture, here Rio’s museums, and codes which I developed as a text model. Texts and architectures are structures of exclusivity missing aspects, symbols, and layers of social relations and expressions.
