Architecture of Absence
2014, photographic series, digital prints 30 x 40 cm and 50 x 70 cm
In my investigation about function and concepts of space in relation to apperception, I am concerned with the role of language and physical architecture structuring our minds and perception of reality. Therefore, I elaborated different codification systems which are combined with photography of urban architecture emphasizing the dichotomy of presence and absence as it is defined through representation, characteristic for our Western culture. In the here seen work, the codification system instigates the idea of the missing or deleted, but still present, with the cultural implication of the color black, overlayed on images or texts.
